Bee simulator reviews4/1/2023 ![]() It’s a short adventure game that puts you in the role of a brand new bee, born to serve her queen. Bee Simulator is by no means perfect, but I’d still recommend it if you’re looking for a simple yet unique, family-friendly distraction. It’s an altogether lighter, quirkier affair, and there are no simulation mechanics to be seen. In some ways, it reminds me of the old PlayStation 3 game, Flower. Alas it seems to be all it does, which is a shame. You play as a bee in a very short narrative adventure. The game wasn’t very long, yet I imagine there will be times I’ll come back to it, just to buzz around Honey Park. It is meant to bring light to the bee epidemic, and it does so beautifully. The game is sort of fun for the insect enthusiast but I doubt anyone else will find much to enjoy here. The game’s soundtrack is excellent and among my favourites from 2019. Visually, the game might not compete against triple-A developed titles but at times it still looks good. My only frustration came with the racing-style mini-games – they were often confusing. In truth, none of the mini-games in Bee Simulator were very fun at all – and yet, they were often so short, I really didn’t mind too much. Bee Simulator Is Like For Honor With Butt Swords A charming, educational adventure where you also fight with your stinger for the good of the colony. It’s unlikely bees have the quality of conversations that take place in this game, but that just adds to the charm of it all. Mixed or average reviews based on 21 Ratings Your Score 0 Summary: Experience life from the perspective of a Bee. But that’s just me.Bee Simulator does a very good job of conveying the life of a bee while adding in enough gameplay elements to make it qualify as a game. I would find it very hard to part with R679 to buy a copy, though. The name might be boring and the voice acting terrible, the drawn-out cut scenes might even make you want to pull your hair out, but Bee Simulator still remains an educational game for anyone who needs it. Bee Simulator is more of a kids action game than it is a simulator. Younger children may find it to be an enjoyable game and be able to ignore the overacting of the voice actors. Bee Simulator is a somewhat enjoyable game but suffers greatly from horrible flight controls and overly sensitive inputs. This means that, after surviving all the cringe, you can continue to the free-play version of the game, where you can calmly fly around and collect pollen to your heart’s content. Bee Simulator (Reviewed on Xbox One) The game is average, with an even mix of positives and negatives. Developer: Varsav Game Studios Genre(s): Simulation, Action Adventure, General, Open-World Positive: 6 out of 11 Mixed: 4 out of 11 Negative. While it has an undeniable charm, it’s short, repetitive to a fault and feels like it’s been hastily cobbled together. The actual story mode of Bee Simulator is considerably short though, and you could probably get through it in less than three hours. Bee Simulator is more of a kids action game than it is a simulator. I also particularly enjoyed the ambient sounds of this part of the game, as well as the small “dings” that came with successfully flying through pollen rings. When I was outside the hive, I could fly around a public park and neighbourhood peacefully, as I searched for pollen and encountered other creatures. The actress’s condescending tone didn’t warm me up to learning much either.ĭespite the uncomfortable transitions and dialogue, Bee Simulator was also an oddly calming experience. Most of the characters seem to be voiced by the same person speaking in different, inconsistent pitches between characters. Instead, however, I was forced to sit through sequences that didn’t really blend well with the playable parts of the game.įor another, the voice acting in Bee Simulator was incredibly cringeworthy. However, the experience is seriously soured by the sensitive controls, along with the punishing and very frustrating racing segments. ![]() I wanted to look around as a bee, at the very least, while the game’s plot unfolded. Bee Simulator is a surprisingly thoughtful game with bags of charm to spare, a wonderful soundtrack and a reasonably detailed world to explore. For me, however, there are a few things about the game that made it difficult to fully appreciate.įor one, the cut scenes were long, drawn-out and static, making an immersive experience almost impossible. Cringey yet calming?ĭon’t get me wrong, Bee Simulator does its intended job by educating players about bees and how their lives work. I was interested to see how realistically this all came together, so with PS4 controller in hand, I decided to embrace my inner bee. Except, of course, in Bee Simulator you are the newborn bee discovering your hive, queen and role in society.
